This year's Made by Google event had some gorgeous devices and a few awe-inspiring features. The new Google Pixel Watch 3 was a notable upgrade from the previous model, giving many Pixel Watch users the features they'd wanted in previous generations.

From a brighter display to a larger option, the Pixel Watch 3 is the best Pixel smartwatch to date. Looks aside, the device offers new smart home integrations, Google Assistant features, workout planning details, and a readiness score.

We break down the best use cases for the Pixel Watch 3 and how it compares to the previous version, in case you're trying to choose between a Pixel Watch 2 and a Pixel Watch 3, or are simply wondering if the newest smartwatch is worth the upgrade.

1. You want a larger smartwatch

The most notable change the new Google Pixel Watch 3 brings is a larger variant. The first two Pixel Watch generations were only available in a 41mm size, leaving fans of bigger screen real estate wanting.

The larger 45mm Pixel Watch 3 looks just as sleek as the smaller variant and has a similar design to previous versions, with a rounded look and 16% smaller bezels to capitalize on the larger display.

The larger screen is perfect for showcasing the new Google Home integrations, which let you view your Nest camera or video doorbell feed on the wearable's screen. The watch can also work as a Google TV remote, just in case you lose yours.

The 45mm Google Pixel Watch 3 is available in three finishes: Matte Black with an Obsidian band, Polished Silver with a Porcelain band, and Matte Hazel with a Hazel band.

2. You often use your smartwatch outdoors

The Pixel Watch 3 grants another wishlist item from Watch 2 and Watch 1 owners: a brighter display. The Watch 3 features 2,000 nits of brightness, making it twice as bright as previous versions. This feature is useful if you often use your smartwatch outdoors, especially when it's sunny.

Though it doesn't reach the Apple Watch's 3,000 nits of brightness, making the Pixel Watch 3 twice as bright as the previous version is a good start and likely enough for most smartwatch users.

The 41mm Pixel Watch 3 is available at $349 in four color variants: Matte Black with an Obsidian band, Polished Silver with a Porcelain band, Champagne Gold with a Hazel band, and Polished Silver with a Rose Quartz band.

3. You want more activity tracking

The Pixel Watch 3 has a larger, more responsive screen and offers new advanced running capabilities to plan your running routines. These capabilities let you beat your run times and improve your form with each workout.

It also offers new readiness and cardio load tracking to give you insights into a better workout routine. This will tell you when your body is ready for a workout and when recovery is necessary.

The watch also features a 24-hour battery life for round-the-clock fitness and health tracking.

1. You're a casual smartwatch wearer

If you're looking for an inexpensive fitness-tracking companion, you may not need a Google Pixel Watch 3. While the Watch 2 may not have as bright a display or as many health features, it's the perfect addition for those looking for a smart Fitbit that can work seamlessly with their Pixel phone and don't often exercise outdoors in the bright sun.

2. You don't mind missing out on the new features

Although the new Google Pixel Watch 3 is a great option for Pixel and Android users in general, it also packs a lot of new features that aren't always essential for all users. The older Pixel Watch 2 model is likely better for most users buying a Pixel Watch, especially if you don't want to pay extra for things you may not use, like smart home, Google Maps integrations, and Gemini.
